Suspension and tyres. Unpaved access roads and rough surfaces are hard on shocks, bushes and sidewalls.

Older vehicles generally. Second and third vehicles that see occasional use collect every one of the problems that come from sitting: flat batteries, seized brakes, stale fuel, rodent damage.

Before you drive to Kingman or Las Vegas

If a vehicle is behaving badly, get it looked at before the drive rather than after. There is very little between Dolan Springs and either destination, and a marginal cooling system or battery is exactly what fails on a long empty road.

The stretch of US-93 through here is long, empty and hot. A vehicle that is nearly fine in town is a different proposition on that road in August.
